Meet Jen

Hi, I'm Jen.

I’m a 37 year old mom of two girls – Eliana is almost three and Hannah is 4 months.

Living in rural Australia, I’m over 100km from the nearest major town, so travelling with a new baby for a workout wasn’t an option. I live on a cattle & cropping farm with my husband. I work (very) part time as an Occupational Therapist and do bits & pieces on the farm to help out when I can.

Farming, gardening and running after a toddler / caring for a baby seem to fill in my days pretty well!

I usually enjoy jogging as my primary means of fitness however after having a baby it’s kinda scary getting back into exercise – you don’t quite know what it’s doing to your pelvic floor or ab muscles.

So I looked for an online program and discovered Body Beyond Birth.

I completed the BBB levels 2 & 3 after having my first child which I started when she was about 3 months old. When I fell pregnant with my next child I signed up for the BBB Pregnancy Program which kept me fit when I could no longer do my normal workout.

Then when Bub was two weeks old I started the level one BBB postpartum program.

I felt BBB was a ‘safe’ workout to do almost immediately post birth. (I started 2 weeks postpartum).

The fact that it’s prescribed by a women’s health physical therapist & tailored to mommies who have a postpartum body filled me with the confidence to start strengthening my body quite soon after giving birth.

Another reason I went with BBB over other programs is it’s at a great price point!

My women’s health physical therapist recently tested my pelvic floor and ab strength / separation & concluded the core workout I’ve been doing has actually put my measurements at the same point as when she discharged me from her service after having my first child! Woo hoo! I actually avoided any physical therapist intervention this time around. In fact she asked when I would be having my next child as I’ve recovered so well!

“Pelvic floor exercises are for life”. In the level one program I liked the exercise where you suck your tummy in whilst on hands & knees & do several ‘contractions’. I also like the exercise on hands & hands knees position stretching one arm & leg out (still trying to master the ball not rolling off my back!!)

My personal tip… Do your 20 min workout before any domestic chores otherwise you’ll get halfway through your day & not have the energy / motivation to do it.
