Body Beyond Birth week twelve
September 22, 2014
So I’ve come to the end of my Body Beyond Birth journey. I have gained so much from the program. I lost a total of 6.4kg. Despite being 0.6kg short of my goal of losing 7kg I am so proud of this achievement. I was starting to feel like I would never lose that final weight so knowing I am so close makes me feel amazing.
I also achieved the goal of fitting back into my old jeans. I have been strutting around like a catwalk model knowing I fit back into my pre-pregnancy clothes. I have also started noticing that some of my clothes are a bit loose on me. Did someone say shopping trip?
I have also made major changes in the way I cook for my family. I have always paid so much attention to what Olivia is eating – checking ingredients and opting for organic options – but now I am also paying more attention to what goes into what I am cooking for hubby and I. Less sugar, more vegetables and smaller portion sizes. I also stopped buying ice-cream which is one of my biggest weaknesses. If it isn’t in the freezer I can’t eat it.
Finally, I would definitely say I have gained some of my body confidence back. Even though I am almost back to my pre-pregnancy weight, I’m finding that my weight sits differently on my body now. It is more centred around my tummy, which I’m sure is a problem most mums have. My next challenge is to keep losing weight and gaining that confidence. Even though I am back to down to the weight I was before pregnancy, I’m still larger than I would like to be. So the journey continues as I aim to get to a result that I feel comfortable with. At the end of the day it isn’t about a number on a scale but about being a healthy mum and role model for my daughter.
Overall, I found the BBB program to be amazing. It is perfect for mums who want to exercise but don’t have the time to get to the gym for an hour. It is achievable, can be done at any time of the day and works. As it is web-based you can do it in your lounge room, in a hotel room while travelling or even in the park. Becky, the instructor, makes the program enjoyable as she clearly demonstrates each exercise and provides encouragement from the screen. There will be some exercises you hate (quadruped plank for me) but you will definitely feel like you are getting a great workout and one that is tailored for you as a mum.
Thank you to all of you who have provided words of support and encouragement over this journey I have been on. A huge thank you also to Becky and Jackie from Body Beyond Birth for the opportunity to review their program. It is always a pleasure to work with other mums who just get it!
